Holiday mishmash

I really like the holidays, even if it’s a little nuts around our house. We usually have a pretty quiet Thanksgiving. I usually roast a duck, and we have a lovely little meal at home.

Last weekend, we went and got a tree. Normally, I buy a permit from the National Forest service, and we ski or hike in to cut one near Mt. Adams or Mt. St. Helens. This year, we went to a tree farm in order to keep at a lower elevation, but it was still nice.

Today, I’m planning to make latkes for dinner, since it’s the first night of Hanukkah. I love latkes, especially with sour cream and homemade applesauce. I’m even considering making apple latkes this year.

We are still looking forward to celebrating our annual get together with friends for Yule on the 19th as well. (Which may be interesting if we’re in the hospital!)

That’s right, folks… We celebrate it all. It’s really lovely. Photos to come.

I hope this finds everyone well, and you are enjoying the season.
